Free sobriety calculator

How many days sober am I?

Enter the date and time of your last drink — or last cigarette, or last puff — and get your exact sober count, the money you haven’t spent, and the next milestone on your path. Everything is calculated on your device and never sent anywhere.

How the sober day count works

The calculator counts complete 24-hour periods since the moment you entered. That matches the convention used across recovery communities: your sobriety date is the first full day after your last use, and “90 days sober” means ninety full days have passed. If you want the reasoning (and the psychology of why counting works so well), read our guide onhow to count sober days.

Each milestone in the progress bar links to what’s actually happening in your body at that point — from the first 24 hours through30 days and 90 days toone full year. You can browse the whole map on thesober milestones page.

Want the count to keep itself?

This page forgets nothing on your device — but it can’t celebrate your milestones at breakfast or talk you through a craving at midnight. The Quit Smoking, Vaping, Alcohol app is a free, private sober day counter that runs this math live on your home screen: milestones, money saved, a health recovery timeline, and a craving SOS button for the hard minutes.

Sobriety calculator FAQ

How do I calculate how many days sober I am?

Count the number of full days since your last drink (or cigarette, or puff). The recovery-community convention is that your sobriety date is the first full day after your last use: if your last drink was Tuesday night, Wednesday is day one. This calculator does the math from the exact date and time you enter.

Does the time of day matter, or just the date?

Using the exact time makes your count precise and unambiguous — the difference between 364 and 365 days is a milestone. If you don’t remember the time, use your best estimate; the date is what matters most.

How is the money saved calculated?

You enter what a typical week of the habit cost you, and the calculator prorates it per day and multiplies by your sober time. It’s an estimate — but usually a conservative one, since it ignores rounds bought for others, delivery fees, and the spending that tends to accompany drinking.

Is this calculator private?

Yes. Everything is calculated in your browser. Your dates and amounts are stored only on your own device so the page remembers them, and are never sent anywhere.

What if I relapsed — do I start over?

Your current streak restarts from your most recent quit date, but your history doesn’t disappear: your longest streak and your total sober days are still yours. Enter your most recent quit date here for the current count. The app keeps the full history — every streak, milestone, and total — automatically.
